Itinerary

Day 1: Evening Departure from North America.  Complimentary snacks, soft drinks and in-seat entertainment system during flight.  Meals, headsets and blankets available for purchase or provide your own.

Day 2
: Arrival in Iceland (B, D)
Early morning arrival in Keflavik International Airport; transfer via Fly Bus to your day room and a welcome breakfast at Guesthouse Borgartun. In the evening depart for Hella, a peaceful town in the horse breeding heart of South Iceland. Overnight: Hella - 3 nights

Day 3: Golden Adventure (B, D)
An iridescent rainbow often crowns the thundering water of the Golden Falls. Nearby walk between the blowing steam and multicolored pools of the Geysir hot springs area. The most famous is Strokkur Geyser, spouting up to seventy feet every five to seven minutes. Follow the steps of the Vikings who founded the world's oldest Parliament when you walk in Thingvellir National Park.

Day 4
: Kaleidoscopic Mountains (B,D)
Head across vast black sand deserts into the brilliantly colored mountains of Landmannalaugar. Hues of beige, red, blue and black lend a surreal feel to this natural jewel of the highlands. Reward yourself after a walking tour with a swim in the area's volcanically heated river.

Day 5: Interior Explorations (B, PL, D)
Today head to Northern Iceland via the ancient Sprengisandur track into Iceland's ever-changing interior, a wilderness region where black sands and ice caps seem to stretch to infinity. Emerge in the mountainous north where you'll visit two charming waterfalls, Aldeyjarfoss and Godafoss. Be sure to ask how the latter got its name! Overnight: Laugar or Husavik- 3 nights

Day 6: Primordial Power (B, D)
Visit the high sea cliffs of Tjornes peninsula, rich in bird life. Marvel at surreal glacier-carved rock formations on a walk amid Iceland's "Echo Rocks". Visit horseshoe shaped Asbyrgi canyon before walking down a trail to marvel at the ancient majesty of Dettifoss - Europe's most powerful waterfall.

Day 7: Whales and Volcanoes (B, D)
Husavik is a colorful fishing town surrounded by sparkling bluish mountains and seacoast. It's a lovely backdrop for a whale and dolphin-spotting excursion weather permitting- sightings not guaranteed). Afterwards visit the natural paradise of Lake Myvatn, famed for strange lava formations, pseudo craters and thousands of water birds. Stroll through the Dimmuborgir lava field and walk up to the rim of the enormous Hverfjall ash crater. See where the trolls had dinner.

Day 8: Horses and History, (B)
Head south through Iceland's longest fjord and a lovely pass framed by jagged mountains. Learn about Iceland's loyal Viking horses in a unique demonstration in Skagafjordur. Visit the interesting Glaumbaer folk museum before heading to the cultural delights of Iceland's capital. Overnight: Reykjavik

Day 9: Homeward Bound (B)
Catch some last minute sightseeing and shopping before boarding the Fly Bus at your hotel for your afternoon transfer to Keflavik Airport. Complimentary snacks, soft drinks and in-seat entertainment system during flight.  Meals, headsets and blankets available for purchase or provide your own.
