Reykjavik - Akureyri - Godafoss - Saltvik - Hvammsheidi - Saltvik

Morning flight to Akureyri and drive to Saltvik, a farm overlooking a lovely bay. On the way stop to admire majestic Godafoss waterfalls, believed by many to be the most beautiful in Iceland. At Saltvik Farm, meet your guides and staff. Take some time to learn how to saddle and ride Icelandic horses,
then set out across Hvammsheidi heath and into the Reykjahverfi area with its steaming hot springs. Enjoy a bath in the local swimming pool before heading back to your dinner and overnight at Saltvik. You will surely enjoy the farm's relaxing geothermal hot tub! (Riding Distance: 12 miles) (B, PL, D)

Day 3
Saltvik - Heidabaer - Theistareykir Cabin
Mount up and ride through Geldingadalur Valley and over Reykjaheidi Heath, a region of great beauty and mysterious scenery. During the day you will practically cross between North America and Europe as you ride over the Mid Atlantic Ridge that divides these regions of Earth from one another. It is a fascinating area with deep earthquake fissures, multicolored mountains and geothermal energy. With all this volcanic activity going on, it's easy to understand why Iceland is still "under construction!"
The ride leads you to Theistareykir geothermal area, a fascinating place with colorful mountains, geothermal steam vents and rich vegetation set deep in the stunning wilderness. Overnight in a charming mountain cabin heated by geothermal energy.
(Riding distance: 25 miles) (B,PL,D)

Day 4
Theistareykir - Grimsstadir - Myvatn Nature Baths - Hraunbrun Guesthouse
Enjoy the ride from Theystareykir area past the Gaesafjoll and Hrafnabjorg mountains. At Grimsstadir Farm leave the horses behind and sink into a delightful, soothing bath in the new Myvatn Nature Baths, the "Blue Lagoon of the North." The surreal, fantasy novel scenery is what makes this truly special! You can't get more Icelandic than this! After your swim, head to the Hraunbrun Guesthouse for dinner and overnight.
(Riding time: 25 miles) (B, PL, D)

Day 5
Hraunbrun Guesthouse - Laxardalur Valley - Saltvik Holiday Farm

After breakfast start your day with an exciting sightseeing bus tour around Lake Myvatn park. Stroll through the mystical "dark citadels" of Dimmuborgir's lava formations. Enjoy the primordial boiling earth and steam vents of Hverarond. After seeing the highlights of Myvatn, it's time to saddle up and head out of the Myvatn area. Ride across a vast black sand desert and into the richly colored Laxardalur valley with its glittering salmon river, Laxa. You will surely enjoy the many contrasts of Icelandic nature that can be experienced in one day! Your trip takes you to Saltvik farm where you and the horses stay the night in this lovely place overlooking the blue Skjalfandi Bay.
(Riding distance: 19 miles) (B, PL, D)

Day 6
Breidamyri - Saltvik Holiday Farm

Enjoy excellent riding paths in the bushy forests of Vatnhlidarskogur and great views of Lake Vestmannsvatn (The Lake of the Men From the West). Ride to the Hraunsrettir round up corral and follow the Laxa River over Hvammsheidi Heath to Saltvik Farm where the geothermal hot tub is waiting! Tonight celebrate your riding adventure with a farewell dinner at the farm!
(Riding distance: 25 miles) (B,PL,D)

At Husavik Harbor a boat is waiting to take you on a whale watching cruise.
