Departure Day:
Depart from North America on evening flight (all gateways) or afternoon flight (Boston or New York).
Complimentary snacks, soft drinks and in-seat entertainment system during flight. Meals, headsets and blankets available for purchase or provide your own.
Day 1 Arrival Day: After going through customs, head to the Fly Bus waiting at the curb outside the airport. Give your Fly Bus transfer (included in documents) to driver or attendant on bus. Transfer to hotel in Reykjavik for your first night in Iceland. There should be an envelope of documents concerning your journey for you at the hotel. (No meals included today)

Day 2- Into the West (B, D)
Breakfast at hotel. Tour pick up is between 8am and 9am. The guide will come into the hotel and call out your name. Also there is a motorcoach outside with the sign in the window “Iceland Travel: Across the Wilderness Tour”. This morning head to Snaefellsnes Peninsula, Iceland's newest national park. Stop by the rocky Djupilonssandur sea shore. Continue to picturesque Arnarstapi village where magnificent basalt column formations can be seen. Your group might also take an easy, unique hike between Arnarstapi and Hellnar villages. Continue your tour around the legendary Snaefellsjokull Glacier, made famous by Verne's movel "Journey to the Centre of the Earth."

Day 3 - Snaefellsnes National Park (B,D)
Pass through several tiny fishing villages on the peninsula before visitng the EriK the Red Museum. This includes a restored example of the house EriK the Red was said to build here. Head north across Laxadalsheidi, an area of awe inspiring scenery and some of Iceland's
best horse breeding. Overnight in Varmahlíð area. Distance traveled: 193 miles

Head to Akureyri, the vibrant capital of North Iceland, and on to Godafoss waterfall and the stunning Tjornes Peninsula. Continue to Asburgi National Park and explore the horseshoe shaped canyon here, said to be created by a blow from Odinn's eight legged horse.

Day 5 -Glacier River Canyon National Park and Lake Mývatn Nature Reserve (B,PL, D)
Delve into the mystical and amazing Eastern highlands with its unusual
natural wonders. Head through highland desert to Dettifoss, the most powerful waterfall in
Europe as it thunders into the majestic Jokulsargljufur (Glacier River Canyon).
Continue to the Myvatn area - a paradise for nature enthusiasts surrounded by lava fields,
volcanoes and mountains: this is the real Iceland of fire and ice! Overnight in Myvatn area. Distance traveled: 118 miles
Day 6 - On the Sprengisandur Trail (B,PL, D)
Discover hidden parts of the Icelandic interior, exploring the wilderness of Sprengisandur and the largest continuous lava field in Iceland, Odadahraun. This is a historical black sand route dating back to Viking Days. It was an area that inspired tales of outlaws and mystical beings and one of Iceland's most famous poems, "On Sprengisandur". Traveling here is a bit of an adventure as your vehicle crosses unbridged rivers. In the distance you can see glaciers and the famous Herdubreid Mountain, the national symbol of Iceland. Overnight at Hrauneyjar, a simple yet comfortable mountain lodge set amid highland landscape.

Day 7 - The Path Behind the Mountains (B,PL, D)
Enjoy some of the most beautiful tracks in the Southern Highlands! Start with a visit to Landmannalaugar, a magnificent area surrounded by colorful rhyolite mountains and steam vents. A hot spring runs into the river here, and there is an option of swimming here in this naturally warm geothermal pool (not included in price). Day 8 - Jokulsarlon Glacial Lagoon - Skaftafell National Park (B,D)
See how glaciers are "calved" at Jokulsarlon Glacial Lagoon where baby icebergs float in the frigid water. Enjoy the scenery and take the optional boat tour among the icebergs (not included). Spend the afternoon hiking through Skaftafell National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty, dominated by Vatnajökull, Europe's largest ice cap.

Day 9- South Coast (B,D)
Cross through a region of vast black sand plains created by melting glaciers. Pass by Eldhraun, the largest single recorded lava flow in recorded history. The scenery eventually changes to the green hills and mountains of South Iceland, one of the main agricultural areas of Iceland. On the way to Hella town, admire two beautiful waterfalls, Skogafoss and Seljalandsfoss. Overnight in Hella area. Distance traveled: 199 miles
Day 10 - The Golden Circle (B)
No trip to Iceland is complete without visiting the Golden Circle wonders. Drive to the primordial thermal hot spring area of the great Geysir and Strokkur spouting hot springs, Afterwards, visit nearby Gullfoss, known as the ‘golden waterfall.' You will also visit the world famous UNESCO world heritagesite of Thingvellir, famous for its history, geology and stunning beauty. Tour ends in Reykjavík in late afternoon. Overnight: Reykjavík. Day 11: Departure from Iceland (B)
