Icelandair.com, in partnership with Amadeus has won the ‘Outstanding Achievement Award’ in the airline category of this year’s Interactive Media Awards, the second highest accolade available. Judged across five key criteria, Icelandair.com scored 475 out of 500, faring particularly well on content, usability and design.
The Interactive Media Awards, judged by a panel of leading experts drawn from organisations such as Microsoft, Time Warner and The New York Times, seek to raise the standards of websites, promoting innovation, accessibility and rich functionality. The awards are open to entries from organisations across the world.
On receiving the award, Gunnar Mar Sigurfinnsson, SVP Sales and Marketing at Icelandair, said: “We are always looking for ways to improve the customer experience on Icelandair.com. We introduced a new fare structure which provides greater flexibility and transparency to customers, who can for example purchase one way fares at a lower discount rate and travel the return trip on our premium fare service, SagaClass. Working with Amadeus has enabled us to offer enhanced levels of service to our customers. This award is a very welcome recognition of our efforts.”
Philippe Der Arslanian, Global Director Airline Direct Channel, Amadeus commented: “To stay ahead in the competitive online travel market, airlines need to continually improve their services for their customers. Icelandair has adopted the full Amadeus e-commerce solutions for their website since 1997 and this award is a recognition of our perfected usability and design based on advanced technology such as xHTML. This award is a recognition of the strong and successful partnership between Icelandair and Amadeus, and a continuing commitment to develop in line with customer needs.”
