Delay in payment card transactions for the purchase of onboard services
Unfortunately, Icelandair has been experiencing a delay in the processing of some transactions for the purchase of onboard services (such as food, drink, and airport bus tickets).
All transactions that did not go through at the time of purchase have now been processed to the acquirer or credit card issuer, and older transactions may appear on our customers’ credit card statements with the description “Icelandair onboard sales”. Due to technical complications, the date of transaction is the day it was sent to the credit card issuer but not the date of the flight.
This delay is due to an issue with new onboard sales computers implemented last year. Some transactions may reach back several months, although the majority dates back to April through June this year. This only applies to services such as bus tickets, and food and drinks purchased on board Icelandair flights.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and are working closely with our service provider to ensure that this does not happen again.
We have checked to ensure that these delayed transactions are not duplicates also charged to customers at the time of the flight, but if you have any questions regarding the transactions, please contact us.
