On January 1, 1914, Tony Jannus, a 25-year-old test pilot, carried out a 21-mile (34km) flight lasting 23 minutes. Onboard this historic flight was just one paying passenger who paid $400 at auction, marking this the world’s first scheduled commercial airline flight!
