After flying from the UK to Reykjavík (KEF), check in at your hotel and get comfortable for your stay in Iceland. We recommend taking a stroll and exploring the charm and allure of Old Town Reykjavík. There’s plenty of lovely restaurants to choose from, so grab a drink and bite to eat, or get stuck into your adventure with one of our many day tours.
Spend the day as you please before getting ready to hunt for the aurora! In the evening, you’ll sail away from the coastline of Reykjavík with the Northern Lights by Boat tour. Searching for the aurora borealis out on the North-Atlantic ocean with beautiful mountains and the city lights in the background is something you won't forget.
An expert guide will tell you all about the northern lights, from folklore and superstition to explaining the underlying scientific facts that make this magical light show possible. Warm overalls are available, since it does get chilly in the winter and usually much of the time is spent outside gazing at the night sky. There’s also a warm and cosy seating area with a café and snack bar inside the boat.
Please note: Departures range from 9 to 10pm, depending on the time of year, with hotel pick-ups beginning at 60 minutes prior. The aurora borealis is a natural phenomenon and appearance cannot be guaranteed, though many tour operators will offer flexible tickets if the northern lights do not make an appearance.
Today, you’ll be visiting the famous Blue Lagoon for some relaxation. Here you can soak in the iconic milky blue waters, feel the benefits of the signature face mask or unwind with a drink from the bar. There are separate changing and shower rooms for men and women. They are modern and spacious, with private lockers for your clothes and other belongings. Cleanliness is a fundamental aspect of geothermal spa experience and a full body shower, without a bathing suit, is absolutely essential prior to entering the spa area. Private shower cubicles are available in both male and female changing rooms.
You can stay at the Blue Lagoon as long as you like on that day. Return buses to hotels operate frequently and are included in the package.
Not ready to go home? If you want to extend your time in Iceland, you can add an extra day in Reykjavík or the surrounding area. There is plenty to see and do within the city centre, or you could choose to venture out and experience the breathtaking Icelandic nature for yourself. Relax in the soothing waters of the Blue Lagoon, head out on a South Coast adventure to see glaciers and black sand beaches, or try whale watching for an unforgettable encounter with Icelandic wildlife. With the option to extend your trip by up to 30 days, you can build the Iceland holiday that’s perfect for you.
The time has come to head back to Keflavík Airport for your return flight home with Icelandair. We hope you’ve enjoyed your Blue Lagoon and northern lights holiday, and we look forward to welcoming you onboard again soon!
