Behind the scenes of Ásgeir's 'Snowblind' video

In the summer of 2012, a young singer-songwriter named Ásgeir Trausti arrived with a bang on the Icelandic music scene. With his debut album ‘Dýrð í dauðaþögn’, suddenly the whole nation knew him: a boy from the North who plays the guitar and sings beautifully. Not long after his debut he started going by just his first name, Ásgeir, and began making English versions of his songs.‘Dýrð í dauðaþögn’ was released in English with the title 'In the Silence'.

Ásgeir is undoubtedly one of Iceland’s most popular artists. After his breakthrough in Iceland he toured globally, visiting Europe, Australia and the US. He’s currently on tour in Europe as well as celebrating the 10th anniversary of his debut album.

Icelandair’s vision is to bring the spirit of Iceland to the world and we're a proud sponsor of Icelandic music. Ásgeir has performed at Iceland Airwaves like most of the country’s biggest artist, alongside up-and-coming artists from all over the world. By sponsoring the annual Iceland Airwaves music festival, we bring Icelandic music to the world, as well as flying the world to Iceland.

Behind the scenes of 'Snowblind'

Ásgeir is releasing his fourth album ‘Time On My Hands’ in October, and has shared a new single ‘Snowblind’ with a unique music video. Shot in and around Sigalda Power Plant in the highlands of Southern Iceland, the video shows the mystical and beautiful nature of Iceland set to the tune of an icy electronic ballad. The video's director, Erlendur Sveinsson, cinematographer Anna Smoroňová, and producer Hanna Björk Valsdóttir assembled a team to bring their vision of a dystopian tale to life.

We followed the crew for a peek at what happened behind the scenes at the filming of the music video for ‘Snowblind’.
