The following baggage allowances apply to Icelandair flights only.

If your travel arrangements include more than one airline, other baggage allowances may apply.

You can also check out the rules for what you can and can’t place in your luggage.

*Icelandair has phased out this class from April 5, 2018. If you have booked a ticket in Economy Comfort prior to this date, you will receive a seat upgrade to Saga Premium on board. Please note that there is no change to your ticket’s baggage allowance and terms and conditions.

**If members are traveling in Economy the extra bag may weigh up to 50 lbs (23kg). If traveling in Saga Premium the extra bag may weigh up to 70 lbs (32kg).

***Passengers traveling with children aged 2 to 11 years old may bring on board an approved child seat if the child sits in the chair during the flight.

You do not need to pick up your bags in Keflavik if you are flying with Icelandair from North America to Europe via Keflavik (or vice versa), your reservation is on one ticket, you have checked in your bags to your final destination, and the stop in Iceland is less than 12 hours.

Carry-on Baggage Allowance

Your carry-on bag must fit in the overhead bin.

Maximum dimensions: 21.6 x 15.7 x 7.8 inches (55 x 40 x 20cm), including handles and wheels. The maximum weight is 22lb (10kg).

In addition, passengers can bring on board 1 small item such as a handbag, backpack or laptop bag that must fit under the seat in front of you.

Maximum dimensions of the small item: 15.7 x 11.8 x 9.8 inches (40 x 30 x 15cm).

Please note: Departures from US locations: US (TSA) regulations stipulate that you may only carry 1 piece of carry-on baggage (with 1 accessory) through the security checkpoint when departing from US airports. Due to these TSA restrictions, Saga Premium Flex passengers are obligated to check in their second piece of carry-on baggage.

Traveling with bicycles

If you want to bring your bike with you, bicycles can be checked in as sports equipment – as long as they meet the following criteria:

  • The bicycle is in a bag or a box
  • The handlebars have been turned parallel to the frame
  • Pedals have been removed

The maximum dimensions of the bag or box containing the bicycle are 87 x 22 x 40 inches, and it must weigh less than 70 lbs.

For larger or heavier bicycles, please contact Icelandair Cargo.

Traveling with multiple airlines

If your travel arrangements include more than one airline, other baggage allowances may apply. Extra bags must be purchased at the airport upon check-in (they cannot be purchased online). This may also affect fees applied, and any duty-free purchases that you make on your journey.

Please study the baggage allowances of our codeshare and interline partners carefully, as well as the information on your ticket.
