We fly between Reykjavík Airport and three destinations in Iceland: Akureyri (North Iceland), Egilsstaðir (East Iceland) and Ísafjörður (Westfjords).
You can fly to international destinations from our domestic airports – to destinations in Europe, North America and Greenland – on a single ticket. An international journey will include a stop at Reykjavík Airport and a transfer to Keflavík Airport.
Learn more about the airports in Iceland and how to transfer between them.
Icelandair passengers from Europe and North America land at Keflavík International Airport (KEF).
To fly within Iceland, passengers must transfer from Keflavík to Reykjavík Domestic Airport (RKV) – a distance of 50km (31 miles).
Passengers must collect any checked bags from the baggage belt in Keflavík airport and take them to the domestic airport in Reykjavík to be rechecked in.
Transfer options include bus and taxi. Allow around 90 minutes for bus transfer, and about 60 minutes by taxi or private car.
The same also applies for returning flights. Collect your baggage at Reykjavík airport before transferring to Keflavík for your flight home, and allow enough time to travel between the 2 airports.
Has your domestic flight been cancelled? If your flight has been cancelled due to weather, we will rebook you for the next available flight. You can also receive a refund, if the new flight is not suitable.
Has your domestic flight been delayed by more than 2 hours? If a flight is delayed by more than 2 hours, all passengers are entitled to reject the new flight time and receive a refund. We will send out an email to passengers affected by the delay, with information on how to request a refund.
Passengers who used Loftbrú or Saga Points to book a ticket and wish to receive a refund will receive a reimbursement of their Loftbrú allowance and / or Saga Points.
