The table below lists the excess baggage prices on Icelandair operated flights, if paid at the airport.

Pre-purchase extra baggage through My Journey or our service center prior to check-in and receive a 20% discount off the airport prices listed.

  • The discount price is valid until 4 hours before departure.
  • Excess baggage fees are non-refundable.
  • Heavy bags can only be paid for at the airport.
  • Extra bags for connecting flights with other airlines must be purchased at the airport.
  • When traveling with a Stopover in Iceland, excess baggage fees are applied per flight leg.
  • A maximum of three additional checked bags may be purchased in advance with the discount applied. If you wish to travel with more checked bags (the maximum per passenger is 10 checked bags), they must be purchased at the airport at full price. If you need to travel with more than 10 checked bags, we recommend contacting Icelandair Cargo.

Sports equipment

Note that if you pay for your sports equipment prior to check-in, either by contacting our service center or through My Journey, you will get a 20% discount off the airport fee. The only exception is hunting gear, which can only be paid for at the airport check-in.

Musical instruments

The size and weight of a musical instrument will determine whether it can be carried on as hand baggage or whether it should be checked in.
