Face mask requirements

Face masks are no longer mandatory on some flights. Mask requirements on board depend on the rules of the authorities of your flight destination.

It is mandatory to wear a mask onboard all our flights to and from Canada and Germany.

Masks are optional on all other flights to and from Europe, USA and Greenland, and within Iceland. However, health authorities recommend that passengers wear a face mask when it is not possible to maintain social distancing.

Guidelines for face masks when mandatory

The following information applies on flights where face masks are mandatory.

We require our passengers to wear face masks during boarding, throughout the duration of the flight, and when leaving the aircraft. Passengers can take down their mask for brief periods when eating and drinking on board the aircraft. We also encourage passengers to keep common hygiene practices, such as hand washing, and using hand sanitizers.

Face mask requirements for children

• Children under the age of 10 are exempt from this requirement on flights to/from Europe.
• Children under the age of 6 are exempt from this requirement when flying to/from Canada.

Special requirements for face masks

Passengers who cannot wear a mask due to disability or a medical condition need to bring a valid doctor's certificate to show during check-in and boarding. We ask passengers who cannot wear a mask due to disability or a medical condition to inform the crew about it during boarding. For further information please contact our service center.
