At Icelandair, we are all part of one team. Our core values – simplicity, responsibility and passion – guide us in everything that we do and provide the foundation for our company culture. 

When a new strategic vision was introduced in 2019, we crystalized our aim to bring the spirit of Iceland to the world. This is a spirit of warmth, optimism and determination. 

In keeping this as our focus, we are able to deliver smooth and enjoyable travel experiences for our customers and build a strong feeling of connectedness within Icelandair. 


At Icelandair, equality of opportunity and equal rights are exceptionally important to us. This is reflected in our company-wide strategies, policies, and goals. 

One of Icelandair's main focus areas is gender equality, which is one of the UN‘s Sustainable Development Goals. 

The company acquired an equal pay certification at the beginning of 2019 and is a participant in a project in Iceland called “Jafnvægisvog FKA” which strives to ensure equal participation of men and women in the executive management team by 2027.

Promoting gender equality

  • Never less than 40% of either gender in management positions
  • Increase the number of female pilot positions by 25%
  • Increase the number of male cabin crew positions by 25%
  • Increase the number of female aircraft maintenance technicians by promoting the job and education to girls

Health and safety

The health and well-being of our employees is important to us and we offer various programs and initiatives to foster good welfare among staff.

Alongside our comprehensive Health and Attendance Policy, we have a service agreement with Health Protection Service (Heilsuvernd) to provide confidential medical services, ensuring employees have access to health care when it is needed.

Promoting good health among staff is high on our agenda. It enables us to provide an attractive and exciting place to work, where people can thrive at their best, and feel good about coming to work.

Fostering talent

As well as seeking to attract talented and qualified employees to work for us, we also look to retain talent within Icelandair. 

There are always opportunities for staff to learn and develop, and training is encouraged within the company. 

Our staff are our most important asset and every member of the Icelandair team plays a vital role in delivering exceptional travel experiences to our customers.
