Covid Plus Medical Cover - Frequently asked questions

Purchasing Icelandair “Covid Plus” Medical Cover is simple. Just add it to your booking when you purchase flights on Icelandair.

Make sure you check your policy inclusions when you get a quote as coverage can differ from country to country. With Icelandair “Covid Plus” Medical Cover, you are covered for:

• Medical treatment, hospital stays and associated costs when you have an injury or illness, including Covid-19.
• Repatriation to get you home, if required.
• Travel costs to help a family member join you, if required.
• Flights to another country for treatment, if required.
• Access to 24/7 worldwide emergency assistance.

Depending on your country there are also some instances where you’re not covered:

• Pre-existing medical conditions (see article below).
• You are no longer willing to travel.

As with many travel insurance policies, pre-existing medical conditions generally aren’t covered. For more information, check the policy wording when you get a quote or, if you have already booked, by accessing your XCover Account. Our protection covers you for new emergency medical conditions (including COVID-19, when you are diagnosed after your booking), or if you have to cancel or shorten your trip or require treatment or reimbursement of pre-paid costs that occur as a result of illness or injury. You should receive your policy documents by email shortly after signing up to XCover. If you haven’t received an email after one hour of signing up, please check your spam folder or contact the XCover team.

You can view your Icelandair “Covid Plus” Medical Cover wording at any time. Just check your emails from our partner XCover.com for a link, or you can view it in your XCover Account after logging in with the email address that you used when you booked on Icelandair.

If you wish to cancel your policy and receive a refund within the cooling-off period, please contact Icelandair support. Unfortunately, we don't allow policy modifications at this time.

If you can’t travel for these reasons, please contact Icelandair support and you can get a refund on your policy.

Unfortunately you cannot add additional passengers to an existing Icelandair policy after you have purchased it. Your policy covers other travellers that were included at the time of booking.
