Quincy, MA, May 31, 2012 – Today, Icelandair signed a contract with Row 44, a leader in commercial in-flight broadband service, to equip Icelandair’s fleet with high-speed Wi-Fi.

This exciting new service will enable Icelandair‘s passengers to use their own Wi-Fi-enabled devices to connect to the internet while flying with Icelandair. The fleet installation is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2012 and to be completed in the fall of 2013. With the completion of installation, Icelandair will be first North Atlantic airline to operate Wi-Fi fleet wide

“Icelandair currently offers leather seats and personal in-flight entertainment systems for all passengers.  The contract with Row 44 will enable us to increase the service level and enhance the passenger onboard experience,” said Thorsteinn Egilsson, Icelandair’s General Manager - The Americas.

This year Icelandair celebrates 75 years of aviation and offers service to Iceland from Boston, New York-JFK, Denver and Seattle with seasonal service from Minneapolis - St. Paul, Washington, D.C., Orlando Sanford, Halifax and Toronto. Connections through Icelandair’s hub at Keflavik International Airport are available to over 20 destinations in Scandinavia, the U.K. and Continental Europe. Only Icelandair allows passengers to stopover in Iceland at no additional airfare.
