Icelandair can arrange Unaccompanied Minor service for children who are travelling alone.
The Unaccompanied Minor service is now available on all our international flights. Please contact our service center for further information.
Mask requirements on board may vary for children - please check our mask policy before your flight.
There are no longer any COVID-related border restrictions for travel to Iceland.
On Icelandair international flights an Unaccompanied Minor is a child between 5 and 11 years of age (11 inclusive) who is NOT accompanied by a person older than 12 years having the same reservation status and capable of taking full responsibility for the child.
If needed, Unaccompanied Minor service can be arranged for passengers between 12 and 15 years of age (15 inclusive). Same rules and fees apply as for passenger with mandatory Unaccompanied Minor service.
It is not possible to book an Unaccompanied Minor via our website. Please contact our Service Center to book the child as an Unaccompanied Minor. This service must be confirmed at least two business days prior to departure.
Please have the information about the responsible adult guardian dropping off and picking up the child from the airport ready when you call to book.
The Unaccompanied Minor service may not be booked if the connection time in Iceland is more than three hours, this includes any stopover in Iceland.
An Unaccompanied Minor form must be filled out and printed four times. Must be presented during the check-in process at the airport.
During the transfer time in Keflavík Airport the Unaccompanied Minor will be escorted by an Icelandair ground agent to a private waiting area in Keflavik Airport. The Unaccompanied Minor will also be escorted, by an Icelandair ground agent, to the aircraft before the boarding process has started.
There are two private waiting areas in Keflavik airport, one inside the Schengen area of the airport and another on the Non-Schengen area of the airport.
Unaccompanied Minors must be checked-in by an adult guardian who must provide photo identification and contact information, as well as the relationship to the child. The responsible guardian must remain at the airport until the aircraft is airborne.
On arrival in the destination city, the Icelandair ground agent will also check photo identification and contact information before releasing the child to the guardian, who is predetermined in the child's booking.
