- Increases Glasgow service to 4 times per week

Icelandair will increase its schedule from Glasgow with an additional flight per week on Fridays starting 15th March 2013. With the addition of the Friday flights, Icelandair will serve Glasgow four times per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.
The additional flight will improve connections from Scotland to Iceland and Icelandair’s North American destinations as well. Hjorvar Saeberg Hognason, Icelandair General Manager – UK & Ireland said, “We are so pleased to be adding more flights to our Glasgow service. We already offer some of the quickest connections to the US and Canada and these new Friday flights will increase our frequency to popular destinations such as Halifax and Toronto in Canada and Boston and Seattle in the US. We chose to operate the flights on Fridays because it is a popular travel day which connects well with the rest of our network.”
Amanda McMillan, managing director of Glasgow Airport, said: “Icelandair is one of our longest serving airlines having operated flights from Glasgow for 67 years. Its welcome decision to add a fourth weekly service will not only provide passengers with greater choice and flexibility it will further strengthen Scotland’s connectivity with North America which is a hugely important market in terms of tourism and business.”
Icelandair is one of Iceland’s longest established companies and this year is celebrating 75 years of aviation. Icelandair flies from the Glasgow to Iceland with connecting service to Boston, Denver, Minneapolis/St. Paul, New York City, Orlando, Seattle, Washington, DC, Halifax and Toronto.
