Icelandair 2015 passengers pass the 3 million mark

Today Icelandair’s passenger number for 2015 passed the 3 million mark. The lucky number 3 million turned out to be 12 year old Icelander Embla Waage who was on her way to Copenhagen on flight FI212 with her parents and twin sisters. Icelandair CEO, Birkir Hólm Guðnason, was at the departure gate at Keflavik International Airport with flowers and a gift certificate to celebrate and make sure they, and the other passengers, enjoyed their flight.

This is the first time in Icelandair’s 78 year history that the company carries more than 3 million passengers in one year. The 2 million record was passed only three years ago, in 2012. Icelandair expects to grow the number by 450 thousand next year and carry approximately 3,5 million passengers in 2016.
