As countries open up again, travel restrictions are fast-changing. Travelers should look into the current rules that apply to them for the destination they wish to visit (for example, requirements for a COVID test or quarantine, what documentation is required), and also for rules that apply to their return trip (for example, the need to quarantine after returning home).
Test and quarantine requirements - note: Iceland is NOT a risk area
There are testing and isolation requirements for travelers arriving in Germany from a risk area, but from November 22, 2020, Iceland is not considered a risk area by German authorities.
We recommend you check the status before you travel as things may change with short notice. The names of countries considered risk areas are published on the website of the Robert Koch Institute.
More information (specifications regarding testing, quarantine, potential fines, etc) for travelers from risk areas is available on the German Federal Ministry of Health website.
Travelers who have visited a risk area in the last 10 days are required to stay in quarantine for 10 days after entry to Germany.
Travelers who have visited a risk area in the last 10 days must complete the Digital Registration on Entry so that the local health authority can check whether they are adhering to quarantine rules. They must be able to present proof of this registration when entering Germany.
All travelers should comply with the law of the federal Land (state) that they are visiting and inform themselves of the relevant rules and requirements.
