itinerary

Day1

Next stop: Iceland! Board your Icelandair flight for the overnight to our hub at Keflavík International Airport. Have a window seat? Keep your eyes peeled as you just may see the northern lights dancing beside you!

Day2

Welcome to Iceland! Exchange your airport transfer vouchers at Airport Direct‘s service desk inside the airport arrival hall (after collecting your bags). There, you'll receive your round-trip tickets and confirm the departure time for your return transfer on the last day of your trip. Normal check-in times are in the afternoon, so if your room is not ready you should be able to store luggage with the front desk so you can take a stroll and explore the charm and allure of the world’s northernmost capital. Perhaps grab some food with the 15% discount voucher for those staying at Natura, Marina or Nordica!

In the evening, dress warm for your Northern Lights and Stargazing tour, and be on the lookout for the green Smartbus™ which will be outside your accommodation beginning 30 minutes prior to official tour start time. You’ll embark on a mission to see one of the most beautiful celestial displays found in nature and many other cosmic wonders. All you need to do is gaze skywards into the Arctic night canopy to explore the magic of countless stars and the moon itself. An astronomical binocular will be available as well, providing you the opportunity to find the most-known constellations and stars. The tour takes about 3 hours depending on how early/late the lights might appear.

Day3

Be well rested for this full day of exploring, and ready to board the green Smartbus™ which will be outside your accommodation beginning 30 minutes prior to official tour start time.

During today’s tour, you’ll follow the North Atlantic coastline from Reykjavík into the volcanic and glacier covered wonderland that is Iceland‘s south coast. You’ll walk behind the thundering veil of water at Seljalandsfoss waterfall and take in, after a short walk up a flight of steps, the incredible view from the top of Skógafoss waterfall. You’ll stand on the world-famous Reynisfjara black sand beach with the powerful Atlantic waves crashing on the black sands, the jagged basalt sea stacks and the huge basalt-column cave and visit the charming and small coastal village of Vík, the southernmost village in Iceland. Despite its small size (291 inhabitants) it is the largest settlement for 70 km! You’ll also catch a glimpse of the now famous glacier-capped volcano Eyjafjallajökull rising majestically above the coastal mountains and see the volcanic Westman Islands just off the coast. Tour duration: 11 hours.

Day4

Where will your imagination take you today? Pick your own adventure with engaging day tours from Icelandair, from thrilling buggy tours to snowmobiling on Icelandic glaciers or going whale watching from the city harbor. You’ll also have time to enjoy the cozy cafes and lively local nightlife that Reykjavík is so famous for.

Day5

Be ready outside your hotel 30 minutes before your chosen departure transfer time for the Smartbus hotel connection to Airport Direct‘s Reykjavik Terminal. From there it's off to Keflavík Airport!

Although it’s time to bid farewell to Iceland today and head home on your Icelandair flight, we hope you can join us again in the future with Icelandair Holidays!
