Day 1Fly to Reykjavík, Iceland

Ready to visit Iceland? Time to board your Icelandair flight from the US to our hub at Keflavík International Airport. Keep your eyes peeled in the winter as you just may get a glimpse of the aurora before you touch down!

Day 2Welcome to Iceland!

Check in at your hotel in Reykjavík and get comfortable for your stay in Iceland. Check-in times range between 2 - 3pm, however, most hotels will store your bags while you take a stroll and explore the charm and allure of Old Town Reykjavík and enjoy the Nordic vibe of the world's northernmost capital. There's also plenty of lovely restaurants to choose from for a bite to eat.

Day 3Northern Lights Hunting

It’s time to hunt for the aurora! Since this activity takes place during the evening, you can spend the day at your leisure. We recommend booking on to one of our guided tours or strolling around the capital at your own pace.

In the evening you’ll sail away from the coastline of Reykjavík on our Northern Lights by boat tour. Searching for the aurora borealis out on the North-Atlantic Ocean with beautiful mountains and the city lights in the background is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Our expert guide will tell you all about the northern lights, from the folklore and superstition, to the underlying scientific facts that make this magical light show possible. Warm overalls are available since it does get pretty chilly in the winter and usually, much of your time will be spent gazing at the mesmerizing night sky. A warm and cozy seating area with a café and snack bar inside the boat is also available.

Please note: Departures range from 9 to 10 pm, depending on the time of year, and hotel pick-ups begin 60 minutes prior. The northern lights are a natural phenomenon, and their appearance cannot be guaranteed. However, many tour operators offer flexible tickets should the northern lights not make an appearance.

Day 4Relax at the Blue Lagoon

Today, you'll visit the beautiful Blue Lagoon for a day of rest and relaxation. Soak in the milky blue waters, enjoy a signature Silica face mask or grab a drink at the in-water bar – the choice is yours. Cleanliness is a fundamental aspect of any geothermal spa experience and a full body shower is absolutely essential prior to entering the spa area. Open and private shower cubicles are available in both male and female changing rooms. Private lockers for all your belongings can also be found here too.

You can stay at the Blue Lagoon as long as your heart desires, as return buses to hotels operate frequently and are included in your package.

Day 5Optional: Add a day to explore more of Iceland

Not ready to go home? If you want to extend your nothern lights break or long weekend, you can add an extra day in Reykjavík or South Iceland. From lava horseback riding to glacier walks and whale watching – there’s plenty to keep you entertained! So much so you can extend your vacation for up to 30 days.

Your final dayFinal day

Goodbye - for now! Bidding farewell to Iceland and vacation in general is never fun, but today it's time to head home on your Icelandair flight back from Keflavík Airport. We look forward to welcoming you onboard again soon!
