Visit Rome

Whether you’ve visited Italy before or it’s your first time, Rome is a city where the ancient meets the modern. As Italy’s bustling capital city, there’s so much to discover here for every traveler.

You can spend your days taking in the ruins and historical sites across the city, wandering through the charming piazzas and vibrant markets or unwinding in local eateries offering delectable Italian dishes. And of course, don’t forget to sample some traditional gelato.

Beyond the capital

There’s more to Italy than its iconic capital city.

Milan is one of the world’s fashion capitals and it’s a destination that’s perfect for window shopping and people watching. It’s also an ideal place to take part in the Italian custom of aperitivo, the act of grabbing a drink and some snacks with friends and family before an evening meal. Or, if you want to immerse yourself in Italy’s rich history, head to the UNESCO world heritage city of Verona – the setting for Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.

While you’re in the area, why not also explore some of Europe’s other amazing cities like London, Paris or Amsterdam? With Icelandair, you can book a multi-city flight which lets you fly to one destination and travel back from another – ideal for discovering all that Europe has to offer!
