Our aircraft to Greenland

Icelandair makes it easy for travelers to explore this huge, other-worldly island just a couple of hours flying distance from Iceland. With the opening of the new Nuuk Airport (GOH), we now fly our Boeing MAX 8 (with a capacity of 160 seats) on most of our flights between Iceland and Greenland's capital, and we fly this route all year round.

Outside of Nuuk - the largest city in Greenland - the airports we serve are mainly small, with short runways only capable of handling smaller aircraft such as our De Havilland Canada (DHC) Dash 400 and 200. Due to the smaller size of the Dash, our service on board is limited compared to that on board the larger Boeing aircraft, and baggage allowance may differ.

Due to the dark night skies, the winter also provides ideal viewing conditions for the northern lights in Greenland. While this natural phenomenon technically occurs year-round it is only visible in the winter months.
